Document Overview
A compact regulation (2 pages) fixing house rent allowance (HRA) for Authority employees, made under Section 182(2)(d) of the 1995 Act.
Key Provisions & Structure
Employees are entitled to HRA at 25% of basic pay plus dearness allowance, provided the rent they actually pay for hired accommodation is not less than that HRA amount (Regulation 3) — an annual self-certification is required. An employee living in their own house, or one owned by a family member, remains entitled to HRA on furnishing an assessment certificate of the property's rental value (Regulation 4). Employees housed in Authority- or Government-provided accommodation instead have 5% of basic pay deducted as rent, and forgo the HRA (Regulation 5). Where the Authority cannot provide staff housing, the Chief Administrator may hire market-rate accommodation with the Chairman's approval (Regulation 7).
