GMADA Public Notice
Public Notice Regarding Aerotropolis Project Pocket-E.
Overview of the Public Notice
A new land acquisition notice has been issued for the Aerotropolis Project – Pocket H in S.A.S. Nagar. The notice is mainly important for landowners and residents of Patton, Kurdi and Siau, whose land may fall within the proposed project area.
Before taking the decision, the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) Report for the proposed acquisition was examined by an Expert Group formed under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. After reviewing the matter, the Expert Group recommended that the proposed land be acquired for the project.
The government then considered the recommendation and decided to proceed with the proposed land acquisition. The notice states that the proposed acquisition is expected to involve minimum displacement, limited disturbance to infrastructure and the environment, and minimum adverse impact on affected persons.
For local residents, this notice is an important update because it confirms another step in the land acquisition process for Aerotropolis Pocket H. Copies have been sent to the concerned officials and village Sarpanches, who have been asked to inform residents through Munadi (public announcement) and by displaying the notice at prominent places in the villages.
The notice has also been sent to GMADA's IT branch for uploading on the GMADA website, allowing affected landowners and other interested persons to access the information.
Geographical Context of Pocket-E
Pocket-E is situated within the administrative boundaries of SAS Nagar, encompassing parts of the Greater Mohali region. While the notice does not detail specific villages or individual land parcels, it clearly indicates that this pocket is targeted for land acquisition and infrastructure development under the Aerotropolis initiative. The area's exact boundaries are aligned with GMADA's broader urban planning corridors, connecting to existing transport and road networks that facilitate regional connectivity. Geographically, Pocket-E is positioned strategically near proposed or existing arterial roads leading towards the upcoming airport precinct, emphasizing its role in the regional logistics network. This location makes it a prime candidate for future commercial and industrial zones tied directly to the Aerotropolis project's economic ambitions.
Historical Development and Project Timeline
Since late 2025, GMADA has been actively involved in land pooling and acquisition efforts related to the Aerotropolis Project. The December 2025 notice marks an early step in formalizing land procedures for Pocket-E. The subsequent notices from April 2026 and July 2026 document ongoing activities such as land formalization processes, stakeholder notifications, and procedural approvals necessary for land transfer. These efforts reflect a structured approach, with the land initially being used for agriculture or left vacant, now targeted for transformation into a planned urban zone. The timeline illustrates GMADA’s methodical process to integrate land parcels into a comprehensive urban development framework. This process is driven by the regional strategy of leveraging airport infrastructure to promote industrial, commercial, and residential growth as part of Greater Mohali’s evolution into an aerotropolis hub.
Significance for GMADA's Development Goals
The inclusion of Pocket-E within the Aerotropolis Project underscores GMADA’s strategic focus on creating a modern, interconnected urban economy. The project aims to develop this area into a mixed-use zone that seamlessly integrates commercial, industrial, and residential spaces. Its proximity to the upcoming airport infrastructure positions Pocket-E as a key node for logistics, manufacturing, and service industries. This development is expected to attract regional and national investment, serving as a catalyst for economic growth in the broader Mohali region. Ultimately, Pocket-E is central to GMADA’s vision of transforming Greater Mohali into a globally competitive aerotropolis, supporting regional development, urban innovation, and employment generation.
