GMADA Public Notice
Public notice regarding Aerotropolis and Industrial Park, Sector 101, SAS Nagar.
Overview of the Public Notice
The Land Acquisition Collector, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Punjab issued a public notice extending the deadline for submission of Land Pooling forms for land acquired by GMADA. The notice concerns:
- Aerotropolis
- Industrial Park, Sector 101, S.A.S. Nagar
A later corrigendum clarified that the reference to Aerotropolis in this notice should specifically be read as: Aerotropolis Pockets A, B, C and D, S.A.S. Nagar
Why Was the Notice Issued?
According to the notice, GMADA had acquired land for development of the Aerotropolis scheme and the Industrial Park in Sector 101. After announcement of the respective acquisition awards, affected landowners were offered the option of: Land Pooling instead of cash compensation Landowners were required to submit their Land Pooling applications to the office of the Land Acquisition Collector (LAC) within the prescribed period.
Why Was the Deadline Extended?
GMADA states that some affected landowners were not aware of the earlier cut-off date and approached the office after the deadline seeking acceptance of their applications. The matter was examined at the Punjab Government level. Following this review, the government decided to provide an additional opportunity for eligible landowners to submit their Land Pooling forms.
Revised Deadline
The Land Pooling submission period was extended by approximately one month. The notice states that the deadline was extended: from 25 February 2026 to 24 March 2026 Therefore, eligible landowners who had not submitted their Land Pooling forms could submit them up to: 24 March 2026
Who Could Use the Extension?
The additional opportunity was available to landowners whose land had been acquired for:
- Aerotropolis Pockets A, B, C and D
- Industrial Park, Sector 101, S.A.S. Nagar
and who had not yet submitted their Land Pooling forms.
What About Landowners Who Had Already Applied?
The notice specifically states that landowners who had already submitted their Land Pooling applications to the LAC office: did not need to apply again. The extension was intended for eligible landowners who had missed the earlier submission deadline.
Was This the Final Opportunity?
Yes, according to the wording of this notice. GMADA clearly stated that: no further opportunity for submission of Land Pooling forms would be granted. Landowners covered by the notice were therefore advised to submit their forms within the extended period ending 24 March 2026.
What Is the Land Pooling Option?
The notice states that after announcement of the acquisition award, affected landowners were offered Land Pooling in place of cash compensation. Under this option, eligible landowners could choose benefits available under the applicable Land Pooling policy rather than receiving only the cash compensation determined through the acquisition award. The detailed plot entitlement, eligibility requirements and other policy conditions are not reproduced in this particular notice.
Does This Notice Announce a New Land Acquisition?
No. This is a post-award Land Pooling notice. The notice states that:
- the land had already been acquired
- the acquisition awards had already been announced
- Land Pooling was being offered as an alternative to cash compensation
It should therefore not be categorised as a fresh acquisition proposal, SIA notice or preliminary notification.
Important Later Corrigendum
GMADA subsequently issued a corrigendum clarifying that the words: “Aerotropolis Scheme” in this notice should be read as: “Aerotropolis Pockets A, B, C and D, S.A.S. Nagar.” This is important because the deadline extension should not automatically be applied to every Aerotropolis-related or later Aerotropolis Extension acquisition. The corrigendum did not extend the deadline again. It only clarified which Aerotropolis pockets were covered by this notice.
What Should Affected Landowners Check?
Landowners covered by this notice should verify:
- the acquisition project under which their land was acquired
- whether their land falls in Aerotropolis Pockets A–D or Sector 101 Industrial Park
- Khasra number and acquired area
- acquisition award details
- Land Pooling eligibility
- whether a Land Pooling application was submitted
- acknowledgement of submission from the LAC office
- any later GMADA communication concerning their entitlement
