Overview of the Land Acquisition Notice

This public notice relates to the proposed land acquisition for the Aerotropolis Extension Residential Project in Village Khizargarh, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali). A Social Impact Assessment (SIA) was carried out for the land proposed to be acquired in Village Khizargarh. The SIA report was then reviewed by an Expert Group constituted by the Punjab Government under Section 7 of the RFCTLARR Act, 2013.

After examining the report, the Expert Group recorded that:

• the proposed acquisition serves a public purpose;
• the expected benefits of the project are considered greater than the identified social costs and adverse social impacts; and
• only the minimum land required for the project has been proposed for acquisition.

Based on these findings, the Expert Group has recommended that the proposed land acquisition should proceed further.

Why Has This Notice Been Issued?

The purpose of this notice is to publicly disclose the Expert Group’s recommendations so that affected families and residents of Village Khizargarh are informed about the findings. Copies of the notice have also been sent to the concerned authorities, including:

• Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Mohali;
• Tehsildar, Banur;
• Sarpanch of Village Khizargarh;
• GMADA’s IT Wing; and
• the concerned Housing and Urban Development Department office.

The Sarpanch has been asked to display the notice at prominent places in the village, including Gurdwaras, temples, mosques, community facilities and other public notice boards. The notice is also to be uploaded on GMADA’s official website.

What Happens Next?

This notice records the Expert Group’s recommendation under Section 7. It does not mean that the acquisition process has been completed. The recommendations are to be considered by the competent authority under the next applicable stages of the RFCTLARR Act before further land-acquisition proceedings can move ahead.
