Public notice about the acquisition of approximately 187.35 acres of land in Village Karala, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) for the development of the Aerotropolis Extension project as per the Master Plan of S.A.S. Nagar.

- The recommendations were considered by the competent authority under Section 8 of the RFCTLARR Act, 2013 and were approved.

The government has concluded that:
- The proposed land acquisition is for a public purpose.
- The benefits and importance of the project are greater than the social costs and negative social impacts identified in the SIA report.
- Only the minimum required land is proposed to be acquired for the project.
- There is no previously acquired unused land available in the area that could be used for the project.
- If any previously acquired land is found to be unused, it should be considered for a suitable public-purpose use.
What happens next?
The approval means that the authorities can now proceed with the next steps of land acquisition under the RFCTLARR Act, 2013. The letter has been sent to officials including:
- SDM, Mohali
- Tehsildar, Banur
- Sarpanch, Village Karala
- GMADA IT Section
- Housing-1 Branch
Notice to Village Karala
The Sarpanch of Village Karala has been instructed to:
- Make an announcement in the village regarding the matter.
- Display a copy of the letter at important public places such as the temple, Gurudwara, mosque, community centre, etc.
This is intended to ensure that the local residents are informed about the proposed land acquisition.

The GMADA IT Section has also been instructed to upload the letter on the dedicated GMADA website so that the information is publicly available.
