Geography of the Affected Villages
The villages of Rudka, Dharamgadh, Ladiaali, and Safipur are located in the Mohali district, part of the developing Greater Mohali region near Chandigarh. These villages are strategically situated within a belt experiencing significant changes due to urbanization, surrounded by agricultural fields and emerging urban neighborhoods. Accessibility is enhanced by key transportation routes connecting Mohali and Chandigarh, facilitating integration between rural and urban environments.
History and Development Context
Land acquisition in Rudka, Dharamgadh, Ladiaali, and Safipur reflects a broader trend within Greater Mohali, where agricultural land is being converted to urban infrastructure. Historically, these villages have been part of a transformation process prompted by GMADA's master plan, which aims to systematically integrate these areas into the urban fabric of Greater Mohali. In August 2026, GMADA issued a previous notice addressing similar land acquisition processes in these villages, underscoring a continuous approach to expanding urban boundaries.
Significance of the Acquisition
The notice is important for landowners whose land falls within the proposed acquisition area. The public hearing provides them with an opportunity to raise their concerns, suggestions or objections before the concerned authority.
